HDC Due Diligience: Purchase of JLE School
The HDC has actively:
- Engaged Dunham Wolf non-profit consultants to real estate acquisition
- Formed a Building Committee.
- Developed a preliminary Pro-Forma.
- City Government Conversations.
- Approached potential tenants to understand space needs.
- Engaged financial institutions.
- Commissioned a Grant Writer.
- With historic designation, potential for preservation grants.
Additional HDC Inititatives
• All board members completed the required Authority Budget Office Board Member Training, Acknowledgement of Fiduciary Duties Statement and Confidential Board Evaluation. The HDC engaged a consultant to review existing policies and assist with compliance matters.
• Performance goals were identified to further the Corporation’s mission and included activities to attract and support city-based business, meeting with business leaders to identify opportunities for growth and planning & implementing programs to increase awareness of business assistance programs.
• The HDC identified the need to create a Strategic Plan that will provide a focused, forward-looking direction to set and meet goals. The board solicited proposals and identified a qualified firm to begin the undertaking in early 2023. Two strategic planning sessions took place with the full board participating. Roles for board members were identified to keep the organization moving forward on its mission.
• Partnerships in coordination with Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, Hudson Business Coalition, Columbia Economic Development Corporation, and CREATE Council on the Arts continued.
