CAROUSEL OF IMAGES CELEBRATING HUDSON/HDC ACCOMPLISHMENTS (KAZ PURCHASE, WINTER WALK, TREE PLANTING, OAKDALE PLUNGE)
DOWNTOWN HUDSON (WE HAVE VISUAL) As stewards of community progress since 1976, HDC is dedicated to transparent communication, accountability, and measurable outcomes. Our actions help create a flourishing community that serves as a model for sustainable economic development, which enriches the lives of all who call Hudson home.
OAKDALE PLUNGE (GET PICS FROM CHRIS JONES OR CAROL OSTERINK): HDC dove in and provided fiscal sponsorship for this annual event: a community-wide winter plunge into Hudson’s beautiful Oakdale Lake.
WINTER WALK(GET PICS FROM PAUL BARRETT): HDC underwrote hiring an Event Producer to organize this annual event, which attracted over 4,000 visitors in December 2023 and resulted in positive cash flow for retailers and restaurants.
TREE PLANTING (GET PICS JAN): HDC contributed to the “greening” of Hudson by serving as CAC (Conservation Advisory Council) official grant applicant for an Ecological Restoration Grant, distributed by Partners for Climate Action. The result was a real and positive environmental impact to our streetscapes.
KAZ WAREHOUSE PROPERTY (GET PICS FROM CHRIS JONES): HDC successfully negotiated and sold its 4.5-acre property, which is part of the DRI (Downtown Revitalization Initiative). The purchaser is creating a new neighborhood that will provide housing, amenities and services opposite the riverfront park and historic train station.
WASHINGTON HOSE FIREHOUSE (GET PICS FROM PAUL BARRETT): HDC contributed $150,000 towards the renovation of this 1840s building, thus preserving one of the most historic buildings in Hudson and providing a new home for the Chamber of Commerce and the HDC.
HUDSON BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE (GET PICS FROM CHRIS JONES): HDC– in collaboration with the Hudson Business Coalition — coordinates a series of Business Roundtables featuring local speakers. The outcome stimulates positive dialogue among local business owners and serves as an incubator to help stimulate Hudson businesses.
