Shaping Hudson’s Future
In honor of its 50th anniversary, Hudson Development Corporation launched The Big Think to bring people together around a shared question: what could Hudson become over the next decade? This inaugural three-part morning conversation series brought together over sixty Hudson business owners, artists, educators, nonprofit leaders, and public officials to explore actionable ideas that could shape Hudson’s future.
Discussions focused on business, hospitality, jobs, education, infrastructure, and civic resilience, grounded in Hudson’s strategic employment sectors, the public sector as county seat and municipal employer, the arts ecosystem, and the city’s strong base of self-employed entrepreneurs and creatives.
Each session began with an objective overview of current conditions and drivers, followed by facilitated brainstorming in five groups and report-outs, with the goal to generate transformative yet practical ideas that can guide Hudson’s next decade. The culmination of the series will be a Hudson Big Idea Brief summarizing the most promising concepts for distribution, while also creating meaningful opportunities that encourage collaborative leadership and forward-thinking civic engagement.
